Uber’s Strange Acquisition Of Postmate’s

Uber acquired Postmate's in 2020 for around 2.65 billion, since then, the Postmates and Uber Eats apps have been ran separately, they are basically the exact same app except one has Postmate's branding and one has Uber Eats branding. This is very odd marketing to me. Why not get rid of Postmate's as a brand altogether? Isn't it costly to keep both these apps running? Was this acquisition simply done to get rid of competition and to poach their customers ?
