Most see the primary culprit for enshittification being the corporate mandate to increase shareholder returns and grow at all costs. Private companies tend to enshittificate less than public ones. When I heard about Apple buying back $100 billion of its own stocks, to me that implies that they now own more of their own company and have tilted the need slightly more back towards being private and is therefore a positive aspect to stock buybacks. I believe this is also known as "consolidation of ownership." How shitty is my understanding here?
