Excuse my lack of knowledge.
I am fairly new to the stock market and recently signed up on IBKR to buy and hold stocks. My account type is "cash-account" and my trading permissions only show "stocks" and "currency/forex". According to these settings I shouldn't be able to trade derivatives such as CFDs, right?
While I was getting to know the user-interface, I discovered the 'More details' tab on my portfolio page. Next to 'BALANCES' there is a 'CFD' and a 'TOTAL' column. In the CFD column it shows to have 8.12 'Available Funds' and 'Leverage' 0.99.
What exactly does this mean? Why is there a CFD column to begin with? I'm not interested in trading derivative products such as CFDs.
FYI: Logging in, the little slider above my username/password is on LIVE, not on PAPER. I have already deposited EURO and swaped for USD to be able to buy the stock I wanted. I'm based in Germany.
